Odisha CM launches 181 helpline for women

Bhubaneswar, Mar 8:

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched a helpline for women — 181– on the occasion of International Women’s Day to help women in distress.

Patnaik launched the helpline at the state-level Women’s Day celebration at Jaydev Bhawan here.

The toll free helpline service will be available 24×7 in all districts of the state.

The helpline will extend prompt response to women affected by violence, provide information about women-related government schemes and programmes and a range of other services.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said everyone should strive towards empowerment of women.

“Biju Patnaik had strengthened the base of women empowerment in 90s by introducing reservation for them in Panchayati Raj system and government jobs. The state government has carried it forward with 50 per cent reservation in Panchayati Raj,” Patnaik said.

“More than 50 lakh women have brought a revolution in their social and economical development through Mission Shakti,” he added.
