Odisha CM lays foundation stone for modular toilets in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today laid foundation stone for prefabricated modular toilets across the city on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

As many as 60 such toilets would be placed at approximately 30 designated locations in the capital city. Out of these 60 toilets, 30 numbers are specified for men and rest 30 for women.

Out of these 60 toilets, 40 are classified into semi-automatic and 20 fully automatic models. It is a solution to encounter the hygiene issues caused due to lack of sanitation. The designing and construction of modular toilet are very flexible to the users of it. The durability is also very strong as it is made up of stainless steel.

The fully automatic ones, also known as e-toilets are having the capability to clean the toilets on its own. The fully automatic toilets are capable of creating an environment perfect cleanliness resulting in zero or no contamination from urinary tract infection or UTI like illness.

The fully automatic ones would require card-based entry and the semi-automatic are manually operated. For better maintenance and sustainable approach both will be chargeable so that the operation and maintenance would be smooth and easy.

The CM also flagged off two mechanical sweeping machines to take up street sweeping work on major roads in the city. The routes to be covered are Rasulgarh to Khandagiri, Power House Square to KIIT Square and Governor House Square to Siripur Square.
