Odisha: CM Naveen launches MRI, CT Scan services at AHPGIC

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated MRI and CT Scan services at the Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC) in Cuttack virtually. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, in the next two-three years, the State will have adequate number of latest facilities for cancer care and people of the State will not need go to other cities for treatment.

The Chief Minister added the MRI and CT scan services at AHPGIC will be available for free. The move will result in timely and accurate diagnosis, and subsequently early treatment. Also, patients will depend less on SCB Medical College for these services, he added.

Highlighting the efforts of the Government the Chief Minister said, “We are also establishing cancer care facilities across the State. The Bargarh Cancer hospital will also be initiated shortly. Apart from the district cancer chemo-therapy programme, we are also committed to better cancer care facilities with up-gradation of existing radio therapy units and creation of new radio therapy units at different districts of the State. All these facilities will help in early diagnosis and recovery.”

Renowned private and charity organizations in this field have also been invited to set up facilities in the State. Recently, foundation stone was laid for the state-of-the-art Cancer Care and Palliative Care Centre in Bhubaneswar with philanthropic support and partnerships.

Among others, Health Minister Naba Das, Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Souvik Biswal, Additional Chief Secretary of Health PK Mohapatra and Secretary to Chief Minister (5T) VK Pandian and Director of AHPGIC attended the programme through the virtual platform.
