Odisha: CM Naveen yet to repay loan taken from sister Gita

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik, who is credited with launching many welfare schemes in the State and successfully hosting Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup this year, is yet to repay the loan amount that he had taken from his sister Gita Mehta.

Patnaik had borrowed Rs 15 lakh as loan from his sister Gita. But, he has not returned the amount till the date, revealed his property statement made public on Saturday.

According to his property list declaration for the year 2017-18, the CM’s assets increased by only Rs 2,81,010 in one year. His movable and immovable property worth Rs 49,25,02,647. Last year, he had declared his property worth 49,22,21,637.

As per the declaration, Patnaik owns a 1980-model Ambassador car worth Rs 8,905. He has immovable assets include 22.7-acre agriculture land, a building in Tikrikhera village in Faridabad district of Haryana, two third share in Naveen Niwas and 50 percent share in a property at APJ Abdul Kalam Road in New Delhi.

He owns jewelry worth Rs 2,21,200. Besides, he has total bank deposits of Rs 27.38 lakh in several banks in Odisha and New Delhi.
