Odisha CM reaches Apollo Hospital to take stock of minister Naba Das’ condition

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today visited Apollo Hospital here to take stock of Health Minister Naba Das’ condition as he was admitted to the private healthcare facility after being shot at by an ASI of police at Gandhi Chhak in Brajrajnagar area of Jharsuguda district.

The Odisha Crime Branch has been directed to probe into the incident, the CM said.

The agency has been asked to take up the investigation of the case. Senior officers of the Crime Branch have been directed to go to the spot, said Patnaik.

Condemning the attack on Das, the Chief Minister said, “I am shocked at the unfortunate incident of attack on honourable minister Shri Naba Das. I strongly condemn the attack on him. I pray for his early recovery.”

Earlier, the minister was admitted to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital and later airlifted to Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated.

On reaching the Bhubaneswar Airport, he was rushed to the Apollo Hospital through a green corridor. A five-member team of doctors has been formed for the treatment of the minister.
