Odisha CM for single window clearance of BDA building plans

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday directed for implementation of single window clearance system by Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) for giving approval to building plans while emphasizing on transparency on this account at a high level meeting on comprehensive development plan for Bhubaneswar held here today.

Stressing on shelter security programme of the state government Patnaik directed the BDA and Odisha State Housing Board Corporation (OSHBC) to immediately start housing construction programme for economically weaker sections in Bhubaneswar, said an official release.

The Chief Minister advised the Housing & Urban Development department to prepare a time bound plan for rehabilitation of slum dwellers of Bhubaneswar in the next five years while asking to speed up work on constitution of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Metropolitan Development Authority.

This apart, Patnaik recommended for suitable restructuring of BDA in order to tackle problems in urban development.

It was revealed during the course of the meeting that under the slum development programme while the BDA has undertaken construction of 760 EWS houses at Mahisakhal and 1480 at Patharbandh, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started work on 600 EWS houses at Rangamatia.

The meeting decided to start immediate processing for transfer of forest land for rehabilitation of slum dwellers of Mandap basti, Salia Sahi and Niladrivihar slums in the capital city. It was also revealed at the meeting that work on development of slums has started in six slums (bastis) under the PPP mode.

Hundred acre land has been identified in Bhubaneswar to provide houses to people from economically weaker sections under the state government’s “House for All” policy, the release said.

Issues like Bhubaneswar Ring Road, master plan for roads and satellite city construction were discussed extensively at the meeting.

For planned development the capital city has been divided into 14 zones. Separate plans have been prepared for these zones.

The meeting also decided to continue with programmes to protect government land.

The high meeting chaired by the Chief Minister was attended by ministers of different departments, chairman OSHBC , chief secretary, development commissioner, additional chief secretary to the Chief Minister and other senior officials of concerned departments.
