Odisha CM to skip Dhamra LNG event

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will not be attending ‘Bhumi Pujan’(ground breaking ceremony) for the LNG terminal project at Dhamra Port in Odisha’s Bhadrak district tomorrow.

CM’s official programme schedule for tomorrow released by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has no mention of Naveen’s visit to Dhamra.

However, no clear information was available on why Naveen was skipping the event.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had on Monday through a letter invited Patnaik to attend the ‘Bhumi Pujan’ of LNG Terminal project at Dhamra Port.

An invitation card of the ground breaking ceremony jointly issued by GAIL, Indian Oil and Adani Group had mentioned ‘Bhumi Pujan’ by Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister, Odisha in the august presence of Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.

On the other hand, politicking has begun over the Dhamra LNG terminal project.

Senior BJD leader and Agriculture Minister Damodar Rout has asked why the LNG terminal project which was originally planned for Paradip Port was shifted to Dhamra Port in Bhadrak district.
