Odisha conjoined twins Honey-Singh to leave for AIIMS

Bhubaneswar: Conjoined twins Honey and Singh will leave for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi from Odisha capital by Rajhani Express tomorrow.

Doctors at AIIMS will examine options for surgical separation of the craniopagus twins born to Bhuya Kanhar and Puspanjali Kanhar of remote Milupada village under Phiringia police station limits in Kandhamal district.

Yesterday, the twins with their parents were brought to Phiringia Primary Health Centre (PHC) from their village Milupada.

Accompanied by an Ayush doctor from Nuapadar Primary Health Centre (PHC) and an Assistant Manager of Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram(RKSK) they have arrived in Bhubaneswar today.

Moreover, the district administration has provided an assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the family of the conjoined twins for their treatment. Besides, the Zilla Rogi Kalyan Samiti of Kandhamal has provided Rs 25,000 assistance to the family.

RKSK Assistant Manager Soumya Samantarai will accompany the conjoined twins and their parents to Delhi.

Following reports in the media about the condition of the twins, the state government had expressed keenness for their treatment.

Further, the state government announced for free treatment of the conjoined twins.

“Because the government extended all help we are arrived in Bhubaneswar and would leave for Delhi tomorrow. We are also worried and scared for the kids. Whether their heads can be separated or not? What will happen? Fear of the unknown and many other thoughts are baffling our minds,” said Bhuyan Kanhar, father of the conjoined twins Honey and Singh.

“I am the mother of conjoined twins Honey and Singh. I am taking them to Delhi. It was only possible due to the help provided by the government. I am hopeful. But at the same time scared,” said Puspanjali Kanhar, mother of Honey and Singh.
