Odisha cop dies in accidental firing while cleaning gun

Salipur: A police personnel died in accidental firing today as his gun went off at a police station in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

As per reports, the deceased identified as Saroj Pattnaik was cleaning a gun at Kishannagar police station when the mishap took place. He reportedly pulled the trigger accidentally fatally injuring him.

Patnaik, an armoury havildar, was posted at District Reserve Police Headquarters.

He was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Patnaik sustained bullet injuries on his head, reports said.
