Odisha cop held for taking bribe to settle case

Angul: A police official of Odisha’s Angul district was caught red-handed by Vigilance officials today while taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person for settling a pending case.

According to reports, Gajendra Behera, ASI of Tapadhol police outpost, had demanded the amount from one Jagannath Behera of Kantapada village for settling a case which was pending against Jagannath and his son.

He reported the matter to the Vigilance, following which a trap was laid by the anti-corruption agency sleuths and the ASI was caught red-handed while receiving the money from the complainant. The cop was later arrested and forwarded to court.
