Odisha cop suspended for negligence in investigation of murder case

Sambalpur: Taking stringent action, the Sambalpur SP has placed Ainthapali police station SI Jugal Kishore Shah under suspension on charges of negligence in an investigation of a murder case.

Reportedly, the SI was in charge of an investigation into the murder of an elderly woman in Budharaja area here four months ago. The woman was allegedly strangulated and later stabbed to death by one Sourabh, who was staying at her house on rent.

The SI was asked to conduct an inquiry in this connection and submit chargesheet in 120 days. However, Jugal filed the chargesheet in 121 days instead for which the accused managed to get bail from court. Lamenting the delay in the investigation process, Sambalpur SP Kanwar Vishal Singh yesterday suspended the SI with immediate effect.
