Odisha cops arrest man in Home Guard sex video case

Cuttack: Odisha Police today arrested a man on charges of maligning a woman Home Guard by accusing her to be in a sex video which went viral on social media platforms.

“I had met SP yesterday following which he had assured me that the culprit would be arrested within 24 hours. The accused Pradip Kumar Das has been arrested. I also want the case to be probed thoroughly so that the girl in the video too gets justice,” the complainant said.

Notably, the woman Home Guard had filed a complaint with Cuttack SP (Rural) regarding the spread of rumour of her being in the obscene video.

The Home Guard at Nemala police station in the district had alleged that Das was spreading rumour to settle scores with her. The accused is said to be a distant relative of the complainant.

Worth mentioning, Das’ wife is a Samiti Sabhya of Sompur in the district.

Meanwhile, the sex video has been sent to forensic laboratory for examination to ascertain the identity of the persons featuring in the video.
