According to reports, Santosh Jena, a promising medium fast bowler and a member of the Odisha Ranji team, was on his way to Bhubaneswar on a bike after attending a training camp at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack when he met with a road accident at Subhadrapur village near Trishulia Chhak.

Anup Mohapatra, cameraman of Kanak TV’s Cuttack unit, found Jena lying on the road with blood oozing out from his mouth and ears and immediately informed the Cuttack reporter Devi Prasanna Khuntia who in turn informed the police.

Later, a 108 Ambulance van rushed to the spot and admitted him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack where he was identified as Santosh Jena. His condition was critical, hospital sources said.

With the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) scheduled to announce the state Ranji team this evening, there is every likelihood that Jena would be left out of the team following the tragic incident.
