Odisha court grants 4-day extension of ITR spy’s remand

Baleswar, Feb 3:

The SDJM court here today allowed Odisha Crime Branch to take Ishwar Chandra Behera, the contractual videographer in the Interim Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur arrested on charges of spying for Paksitani spy ageny ISI, on remand for four more days.

Behera was produced in the court today at the end of the seven-day remand granted by the same court on January 28.

He was brought here from Cuttack where he had been taken on transit remand for interrogation by6 the Crime Branch, which was entrusted with the invetsigation into the case on January 29, a day after the court allowed Baleswar police to take him on a seven-day remand.

“Crime branch will seek to take him on fresh remand for four more days,” Crime Branch ADG Bijay Kumar Sharma had told media persons in Cuttack earlier in the day.

Behera, a contractual cameraperson employed with the ITR at Chandipur-on-Sea in Baleswar district, was arrested on January 23 for allegedly working for Pakistani intelligence agency ISI.
