Odisha Crime Branch takes over DWO suicide case

The Odisha Crime Branch today took charge of the investigation into the suicide of Dhaneswar Prusty, District Welfare Officer (DWO) inside his office in Rayagada town on Tuesday.

Talking to OST, additional SP, Rayagada, Laxman Kumar Patel said a three-member Crime Branch team, led by the DSP Ramesh Chandra Sethy, arrived at Rayagada this evening and had a meeting with the Rayagada SDPO at his office.

Later, the team went to Rayagada Town Police station and collected information on the incident.

The team later met district SP K Siva Subramani, who handed over documents and materials pertaining to the case.

Meanwhile, the District Congress has called for a bandh in Rayagada town tomorrow demanding the arrest of district collector Sashi Bhusan Padhy and PA, ITDA Gorachand Gamang, while the Congress and the BJP have called for a bandh in Gunupur town in the district on the same day with a similar demand.
