Odisha Crime Branch to take Sarathi Baba on remand today

A day after the arrest of controversial godman Santosh Raula alias Sarathi Baba, the Odisha Crime Branch police today will take him on a three-day remand for further interrogation.

A special team of Crime Branch police would bring from the Choudwar Circle Jail to the Crime Branch headquarters office here with tight security where he would be subject to interrogation for three days.

Before being taken to the Crime Branch headquarters, Sarathi would be taken to SCB Medical College and Hospital for a health checkup.

As informed by Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma, the interrogation of Santosh Raula would be on fraudulent possession of land, sources of money collected in the name of Sarathi Ashram Trust, Baba’s visit to Hyderabad, Jeypore and Kolkata and his involvement in criminal activities.

Meanwhile, a team of Crime Branch officials raided the house of a Chartered Accountant in Kendrapara town this morning.

During the raid, the sleuths seized the laptop of the Chartered Accountant and the IT return documents of Sarathi Baba.

Reliable sources said the Crime Branch officials have found huge deposits of money in the accounts of the two members of the Satyam Charitable Trust.

The interrogation of Santosh would be held in the presence of the Chartered Accountant.
