Odisha: CRUT earns Centre’s Award of Excellence

Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) won the Award of Excellence at the 13th Urban Mobility India Conference organised by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs yesterday.

The CRUT was conferred with the award for innovation in urban transport during COVID-19 situation.

“CRUT addressed their social responsibility during the pandemic by bringing facilities to doorstep by converting neighborhood bus stops into vegetable vending zones and providing “Grocery on Wheels”. With the development of mobile Apps like MoBusMoStory and Games of MoBus, the agency educated and sensitized the commuters. The organization brought much needed shift to digital payments by using Mo Card for cashless and contactless ticketing. It is pioneer in taking the initiative of Bus Pathshala, a unique measure for providing virtual training to more than 1,200 bus crew & staff members of CRUT & OSRTC on crucial aspects of safe and eco-sensitive driving, female safety and customer friendly approach,” the citation read.

The award by Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs reconfirms that performance of Odisha in Covid management has been one of the best in the country, the CRUT said. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated CRUT for the feat.
