Odisha cyber security policy mooted

Concerned over cyber threat and to ensure security of data in Odisha’s government offices a state cyber security policy will be formed, this was decided in a meeting headed by state home secretary at the state secretariat.

The cyber security policy will also look into the data security to be provided for important offices like the civil aviation, banking, and transportation departments.

An information security officer will be appointed in each government office to maintain cyber security  in all government offices .

Crime Branch special Director General Bijay Kumar Sharma has been appointed as chief cyber information security officer in the meeting.

In this meeting crime branch DG Bijay Kumar Sharma, IT department secretary, and officials from the IT department were also present.

Recently, the official website of Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) had been hacked by an engineering student.

While, on December 29, the test website of the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Ganjam district http://www.rtoganjam.com/ was hacked. But the matter came to light only on January 3.
