Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra selected as next Spl Secy, Internal Security

Odisha DGP Prakash Mishra is all set to don the mantle as the next Special Secretary of Internal Security in the Ministry of Home Affairs, well known news website powerbuzz.in said in its report.

Reports said the Union Home minister Rajnath Singh had called Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday to convey his Ministry’s decision to appoint Mishra in this very crucial position.

The post has been lying vacant since October last year after S Jayraman, a 1977 batch IPS officer of the West Bengal cadre superannuated from this office. Since then many names were suggested and many efforts were made to fill up the post but without any success.

Powerbuzz.in said in its report that the contenders for the post included Alok Kumar Verma (IPS, UT, 1979) Arun Chandra Verma, (IPS, BH, 1979), Krishna Chaudhary (IPS, BH, 1979) and even Jayanta Narayan Choudhury, a 1978-batch IPS officer from Assam cadre.

Mishra, a 1977-batch IPS officer from Odisha cadre presently serving as DGP Odisha, however, has been able to win the prized post, the website reported.
