Odisha DGP suspends cop for touching Devi Subhadra’s idol during Niladri Bije

Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP KB Singh today suspended an inspector rank officer for allegedly touching Devi Subhadra’s idol during Niladri Bije of the Rath yatra in Puri last week.

“Amulya Kumar Dhar, IIC Boudh police station has been placed under suspension with immediate effect for violation of High Court orders. Dhar attempted to touch Devi Subhadra’s idol during Pahandi in Niladri Bije. He will remain under the disciplinary control of SP Boudh during suspension,”  DGP KB Singh said.

The erring cop Amulya Kumar Dhar posted at Boudh police station as an Inspector-in-Charge has been suspended for flouting Orissa High Court order which restrained on touching the deities during annual festival of the Lords.

The action comes after Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi submitted his inquiry report to the DGP.
