Odisha dispatches over 250 tonnes of oxygen to other states in 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has extended helping hand to other states amid shortage of oxygen for critical COVID-19 patients across the country by dispatching 15 tankers containing more than 250 tonnes of medical oxygen in 24 hours.

The tankers from Rourkela, Jajpur and Angul were sent to Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Indore, Pune, Mumbai and Nagpur. A dedicated corridor has been formed by Odisha Police for prompt and unhindered movement of oxygen tankers.

Based on the directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a Special Cell was formed under Y K Jethwa, ADG (Law & Order) as the Nodal Officer for coordinated action for loading and transportation of medical oxygen by Odisha to states facing deficit.

Later today, 2 tankers from Angul to Visakhapatnam, 2 tankers from Jajpur to Ghaziabad and Visakhapatnam will leave soon.
