Odisha docs to remain off-duty on holidays from Oct 28. Here’s why

Bhubaneswar: The patients in State-run hospitals will face tough time ahead as the doctors will remain off-duty on all the public holidays from October 28.

Like other government employees, the doctors also will not engage themselves in public services, decided the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA).

As per the decision taken at meetings held on September 2 and 30, now the doctors appointed in the government hospitals will remain off-duty on holidays, said OMSA’s general secretary Dr. Punyaslok Das.

In a letter to health secretary, he suggested the government to go for alternative for the patients in the hospitals on holidays.

The association took the move to put pressure on the government to meet its demands including implementation of Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme in Odisha, making proper schedule for duty and doctors’ safety.
