Odisha doctor attempts suicide after patient’s death

Bargarh: In an unusual incident, a doctor allegedly attempted to commit suicide by slitting his own throat after a woman patient, who had undergone treatment at his clinic, died at the Bargarh district headquarters hospital today.

According to reports, Labanga Sahu, the deceased woman of Banabasapali village on the outskirts of Bargarh town, had come to doctor Subodh Sahu’s clinic at Bandhutikara due to her toothache.

The doctor administered her an injection following which her condition became critical and she was admitted to the district headquarters hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.

After her death, the panic-stricken doctor slitted his own throat at his clinic in the presence of police. He was initially admitted to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla after his condition deteriorated.
