Odisha: Draft voter list to be out tomorrow, rectification process by Oct end

Bhubaneswar: The draft voter list ahead of the forthcoming general elections will be published tomorrow and electoral roll revision will held till October 31, informed State chief electoral officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar.

The draft voter list will be out at State CEO office on September 1. The voters can apply for rectification in the voter list and the process will continue in next two months till October 31. The final voter list will be published on January 4, 2019, Kumar said after all-party meeting here on Thursday.

The fresh voters can apply online on www.ceoorissa.nic.in/www.nvsp.in to be included in the electoral roll (voter list). They need to furnish colour passport photograph, identity proof of residence and birth date for registration in the voter list.

Efforts will be made to ensure that no eligible voters should be left out, Kumar said adding that focus will be given to include fresh voters in the list.

Similarly, the inspection or ‘First Level Checking’ of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be held from today.

According to reports, two officials from Election Commission of India (ECI) will impart training to the officials on the use of EVM and VVPAT at a meeting of district collectors chaired Surendra Kumar. The inspection will be made for two months.

Notably, the VVPAT will be used in all the booths for the first time during the upcoming general elections in 2019.
