Odisha enhances land acquisition limit for pvt companies to set up businesses

Bhubaneswar: In order to give a boost to industrialization in Odisha, the State government today notified enhancing the land acquisition limit for private companies eager to establish businesses.

Private companies can purchase up to 500 acres of dry land or equivalent extent of irrigated or wet lands in rural areas to set up businesses in the State. Earlier, the land acquisition limit was 200 acres in rural areas.

As per the notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management department, the limit for land acquisition in the urban areas increased to 100 acres from 50 acres.

The notification added the State government increased the land acquisition limit in exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (1) of section 46 of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 read with rule 47 of the Odisha Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2016.
