Odisha: FIR filed against Baba Artatrana over COVID-19 cure claims

Bhubaneswar: Trouble mounted for self-styled godman Artatrana Das alias Baba Artatrana after a Bhubaneswar-based lawyer filed a complaint against him with Chandrasekharpur police over his claims of curing COVID-19 by touch therapy.

Complainant Tapan Kumar Harichandan has accused Baba Artatrana of cheating people by collecting money from them with fraudulent commitments of curing COVID-19 and other fatal diseases.

The illegal activities are being carried out by Baba Artatrana at Lumbini Vihar, Chandrasekharpur. People are being victimized with his superstitious act of curing disease by touch therapy and self-claimed supernatural power endowed with him which has no scientific evidence, the complainant said in the FIR.

He also urged the police to ascertain the amount of property and money gained by him by cheating people with such activities.
