Odisha Forest dept official in Vigilance net

A joint team of Vigilance officials today raided the residence of Loisingha Forester Khageswar Jena in Odisha’s’ Balangir in connection with allegations of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to reports, a joint team comprising of officials from Balangir, Sonepur and Bargarh raided Khageswar’s residence at Shantipada here based on a disproportionate assets case registered against the Forester.

“As many as 22 passbooks of various banks, 70 gram gold jewellery have been seized so far. The estimation is still on. We would be able to tell the exact amount of his assets after estimation is over,” a Vigilance DSP said.

The forest official had stashed the gold and documents inside a wall so that no one gets a clue about the hidden wealth, sources said.

“We are inquiring about his immovable properties and the amount of money deposited in various banks” Balangir Vigilance DSP Abhiram Kar said.
