Odisha forms fitment committee for pay revision of UGC salaried employees

Bhubaneswar: After announcing to provide revised pay scale for the state government employees as per 7th pay commission recommendation, the government constituted the fitment committee for implementation of the commission for the UGC salaried faculties and employees.

The 7-member fitment committee headed by Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan has been formed for pay revision of the lecturers, professors and other employees receiving salary as per UGC Regulations.

The committee also comprises of Higher Education Additional Chief Secretary G V Venugopala Sarma , Finance Principal Secretary Tuhin Kant Pandey, General Administration (GA) Principal Secretary Ashok Meena, Skill Development & Technical Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh and Health & Family Welfare Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda as the members. Higher Education Additional Secretary Akshay Kumar Mohanty has been inducted in the panel as the coordinator.

The panel has been asked to submit the report within 45 days.

While the 7th pay commission recommendation has been implemented for the faculties and employees of all the universities and colleges under Union HRD Ministry, the state government has decided to implement the commission in various universities and colleges under it, said a senior official in the Higher Education department.

The government will take further decision as per the report by the fitment committee, he added.

Around 1200 faculties and employees of the state-run universities, 1000 of private universities, 500 of medical colleges, 300 of OUAT and 150 of various engineering colleges will be benefited with implementation of 7th pay commission recommendation in the state.
