Odisha gangster’s carbine’s manufacture traced to Kanpur

A team of the Odisha police has left for Kanpur to find out more facts about the carbine seized from the residence of gangster Dhalasamanta brothers (D-brothers) during raids, said police sources.

A team of the Twin City Commissionerate Police which had gone to Kolkata to ascertain details of the seized carbine, by checking its serial number from the registry of the Ordnance Factories Board there found that it was manufactured at the Ordnance Factory of the Indian Army in Kanpur, the sources added.

It may be recalled here that a day after arrest of gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samant the police on January 30 last seized nine sophisticated guns, including a carbine, and huge cache of ammunitions from their residence at CDA sector 7 area. The arms and ammunitions were hidden in a wooden box in ceiling of their bathroom.

Notably, the carbine is mostly used by the para-military and defence personnel.
