Odisha gears up for Durga puja, Cops on alert to control crime

Cuttack: As less than a fortnight to go for festive season, Odisha police is well prepared to control the possible crimes during the occasion.

In view of Durga puja, police will keep close watch on the criminal activities for smooth conduct of all the programmes and events during the festival.

“The criminals will be booked under National Security Act (NSA) or under the CrPC provision. The SPs of all the districts have been asked to take strong action against the criminals,” said Odisha DGP RP Sharma.

Meanwhile, police are on alert to avoid any untoward incident before the students’ union polls in the colleges.

Incidents about pre-poll violence have been reported from several places in the state. In many places students are hurling high power crackers only to create panic and frighten other students in the college campus. Those students will be identified and action will be taken against them, Sharma said.
