Odisha gets Rs 1743 cr as first tranche of Central taxes

The Centre on Sunday allocated Rs 1743.46 crore to Odisha as the first installment of funds allocation for the 2015-16 fiscal to States on the basis of recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission. The allocation to Odisha accounts for 4.66% of the Rs 37,420 crore allocated to states.

During his recent visit to Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the state would from now on get around Rs 25, 000 crore from the Centre towards its share from Central taxes.

Speaking at a public meeting in Rourkela  on April 1, the Prime Minister had said this was significantly more than the Rs 18,000 crore per annum it would used to get earlier.
