Odisha Govt accepts BJP MLA candidate’s resignation

Bhubaneswar: A day after a team of BJP leaders met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here urging him to accept the resignation of Dr Budhan Murmu, the saffron party’s candidate for Saraskana Assembly Constituency in Mayurbhanj district, the State Government accepted the resignation of the doctor today.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Odisha Health Department.

“Murmu, who is currently working as medical officer at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Bhaluki under Rangamatia Community Health Centre (CHC) in Mayurbhanj district has submitted his resignation from Government services to contest in the ensuing general elections. After careful consideration, the Government has accepted his resignation with effective from April 4,2019,” the notification read.

Following the development, Murmu exuded confidence of winning the assembly seat since he has support of the people in the region whom he has served for a long time as a doctor.

Earlier yesterday, a BJP delegation led by party State Vice-President Samir Mohanty and general secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar met the CM at Naveen Niwas here demanding acceptance of Murmu’s resignation.

Murmu, who worked as a doctor at PHC, Bhaluki in Mayurbhanj district had applied for voluntary retirement from service on October 4, 2018.
