The Odisha government today announced appointment of Prof Dr Shyam Sundar Pattnaik as the new vice- chancellor of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), said sources.

Dr Pattnaik is presently serving as a professor at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research, NITTTR at Chandigarh under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

Prof. Dr Pattnaik is a Ph.D.(Electronics and Comm. Engg) from Sambalpur University and M.Sc.(Physics With Electronics) from REC Rourkela/Sambalpur University and currently is the head of Department of Educational Television Centre, NITTTR, Chandigarh.

His research interests include Antenna (Plana, Metamaterial, and Fractal), Soft Computing, ICT based education, Virtual Learning, Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing, Teaching learning using free open source and social networks.
