Odisha govt asks collectors of 16 dists to keep treasuries open on Oct 11, 12

The Odisha government today directed collectors of 16 districts to keep open government treasuries in their districts on October 11 and 12 as a precautionary measure in view of the impending cyclonic storm Hudhud, said an official release.

Additional chief secretary, Finance U K Behera directed collectors of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Baleswar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Nayagarh, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Koraput and Malkangiri to keep government treasuries open on October 11 and 12 for taking up bills related to essential emergency relief related expenses on these two days which happen to be holidays, the release said.

Behera also directed the collectors of these districts to issue directions to banks in these districts from October 11 to October 13 and other holidays to remain prepared for making payments with regard to relief expenses made by the government.

The Finance department saidthe directive had been issued with a view to ensure that requirement of money doesn’t pose a hurdle in execution of relief work.

Behera has also requested RBI’s regional director to direct banks in concerned districts to extend help and cooperation in relief operations, the release added.
