Odisha govt asks collectors to list Odias trapped in quake-hit Nepal

The Odisha government has set up a 24-hour helpline to facilitate the return of Odias from the quake-hit Nepal and asked the district collectors to submit a list of the people trapped in the Himalayan kingdom.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Mohaptra has directed the collectors to furnish a list of people of their respective district who are stranded in Nepal.

As informed by the Kendrapara collector, about 335 persons of Pattamundai and Aul Blocks of the district are staying in Nepal of whom Bulu Kumar Sethi of Pattamundai block, Khirod Behera, Manoj Behera, Mamata Behera of Aul block have suffered minor injuries while the others are safe.

Meanwhile, three persons of Balangir district – Bidhubhusan Mohapatra, his wife Pragnya Paramita Guru and their child Adrika Mohapatra – had taken shelter in a relief camp at Etimore, Lalippur, Nepal and were in need of help, the SRC said, adding their case for safe transfer to India has been taken up with the Centre through the Chief Resident Commissioner at New Delhi.

Talking to the media, Chief Resident Commissioner, New Delhi, Sunil Bhargav said the state government has set up a 24-hour helpline in his office (Landline: 011-24679201-EPABX, Extn-04; Mob:07803850005) to facilitate the persons from Odisha on their return from Nepal.
