Odisha govt asks teachers not to leave college before 3 PM

Acting on frequent complaints about early departure of teachers in some colleges, the Odisha government has made itmandatory for all college teachers to remain present at the college premises till 3 PM everyday.

ravenshaw collegeThe teachers will have to remain present in the campus till 3 PM even if there are no classes. Violation of the order would result in departmental proceedings against the erring teachers whose salary would be held up, sources in the Higher Education department said.

As per the notification, the director, addtitional director and four deputy directors of Higher Education department regularly visit each college every month and submit a detailed report to the state governmnet on teaching and attendance of students and teachers.

Each of the aforesaid directors will visit the colleges in all 30 districts every month.

Apart from this, the Higher Education department has appointed advisors in each district, who will pay surprise visit to the colleges. The advisors will cooperate with the directors of Higher Education.

Besides, the department will also entrust the task to the regional directors in Bhubaneswar, Brahmapur and Sambalpur.

The department will issue an order to this effect to all colleges very soon, the sources added.
