Bhubaneswar, Apr 8:

With no immediate solution at sight to the 488 and 662 category Block Grant Lecturers’ issue, Odisha Government today decided to rope in lecturers from private colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and other technical institutions for answer paper evaluation of recently concluded Plus two examination.

The decision was taken in a high level meeting held at the Secretariat and chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today.

“With an eye on finishing the evaluation of Plus Two examination answer papers on time, today, we decided to rope in lecturers of private colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and Ekalvaya model schools. Besides, lecturers, including ad hoc ones with M.Sc qualification and minimum of one year’s experience will be deployed in case of Science papers,” said Higher Education Secretary GVG Sharma speaking to reporters after the meeting.

“The lecturers will join the evaluation duty starting tomorrow. Stringent action will be taken against the person, should anyone attempt to hinder the process,” he added.

The Private College Lecturers’ Coordination Committee, on the other hand, issued a statement saying that the Government would falter in this attempt too. It further issued its reservation over proper valuation of the answer papers given the lack of training and experience of the new set of lecturers.
