Odisha govt decides on land-for-land policy in city

The Odisha government today decided to compensate private land owners with government land for land acquired for development purposes in the capital city.

The decision was taken at a high level meeting at the state secretariat attended by Culture and Tourism Minister Ashok Panda, chief secretary GC Pati and Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena among others.

As many as 20 important proposals on the capital city’s infrastructural development figured at the meeting.

“Private land owners whose land is acquired for construction of drains etc. will be compensated with government land on the basis of the prevailing benchmark rates,” said BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.

Among a host of other issues the meeting decided was construction of 2,000 transit homes for slum dwellers and construction of multi-level parking at seven locations in the city.

Besides, the denizens of the city will have to take the permission of General Administration (GA) department and Commissionerate Police before organizing social functions on vacant government land.
