Odisha govt directs educational institutions to install fire safety equipment

In the wake of major fire incidents in SUM hospital and Utkal University campus, Odisha government has directed the educational institutions to install the fire safety equipment in the buildings and premises.

As per the directive by the higher education department, obtaining fire safety certificate is mandatory for all the universities and colleges in the state.

The installation of fire safety equipment in the classrooms and offices has become more inevitable for the safety of students and lecturers inside the college and varsity premises, the notification issued by Regional Directorate of Education, Bhubaneswar said.

The department has asked the principals and vice-chancellors of all the colleges and universities to take initiative towards it at the earliest.
