Officials of the Odisha government and  the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) today deliberated extensively on the standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure smooth conduct of the Plus Two examination scheduled to begin from March 2.

After facing all round flak for the gross discrepancies in the evalutaion and tabulation in the annual Plus Two examination papers last year, the government clearly does not want to take any chances this time.

The meeting convened by the state Higher Education department at the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) campus stressed the pre-examination preparations, management of examination hubs and evaluation centres among other pertinent issues concerning the conduct of the annual intermediate examination.

Superintendents of examination management hubs (EMH) and evaluation centres, apart from district-level advisors and other senior officials, participated in the brainstorming session.

Based on the inputs provided by these authorities, a detailed strategy will be chalked out for smooth execution of the plan.

The 203 examination management hubs identified will be situated within 20 KM radius from the examination centres, an official informed.

"Question papers will be sent to examination centres on the day of examination. It will be kept in strong room of the EMH under CCTV surveillance. So there is no chance of leakage of question papers," Chairman, CHSE, Basudev Chhatoi said.

It may be mentioned that as per the standard operating procedure (SOP), issued by the Higher Education department, the question papers will be sent to all the examination hubs two days prior to the examinations from where they will be sent to the respective colleges between 7 AM to 9 AM on the day of the examination.

After the question papers are received at the colleges, the centre superintendent will open them in the presence of the invigilator and observer 15 minutes before the test.

A two-tier security measure comprising police and district administration has been planned for the Plus Two examination. The question papers would be kept under CCTV surveillance with round the clock police monitoring in all the hubs in the state. The supervisors in charge of the hub will be responsible in case of any surveillance system malfunction.

It may be recalled the CHSE has finalised 1091 centres for the Plus Two examinations this year in comparison to 1080 centres last year.
