Odisha Govt extends grace period for payment of Motor Vehicle tax

Bhubaneswar: In view of difficulties faced by vehicle owners for payment of Motor Vehicle tax due to COVID-19 lockdown, Odisha Government extended the grace period for tax payment till end of February this year.

The grace period for payment of Motor Vehicle tax/additional tax of those Goods Carriages for the quarter January-March, 2021 has been extended upto February 28, 2021, a notification by State Commerce & Transport Department stated today.

Due to lockdown declared by the Centre as well as the State Government to prevent Coronavirus, the vehicle owners are unable to pay Motor Vehicle tax and additional tax for the quarter January-March 2021 within the grace period prescribed under sub rule-(2) of rule-9 of Odisha Motor Vehicle Taxation Rules, 1976.

With extension of grace period, the vehicle owners will be able to pay tax without any fine.
