The Odisha government has initiated the process for demolition of Om Sri Sri Bajrangbali Sevashram— locally known as Patsani mutt—on the outskirts of the state capital.

Official sources said a local court has served him a show cause notice to Raghunath Das, owner of the Sevashram, asking him to file a counter by December 23.

Acting on the counter of Das, steps would be taken for demolition of the Sevashram, the sources added.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), in course of its investigation, has come to know about the encroachment of government land by Raghunath Das on behalf of the Sevashram

While Das is said to be the owner of the controversial Sevashram that has come up on government land at Ghatikia, the management and operation is virtually in the hand of BJD MP Prasanna Patsani.

It may be mentioned that the BDA Enforcement Squad yesterday had submitted its report to the BDA vice chairman.

Though everyone knew about the encroachment of government land by the Sevashram authorities, no action could be taken due to the influence of the BJD MP.

However, following reports flashed in several newspapers and the print media, the state government has finally decided to take legitimate action.

The Sevashram has one Hanuman temple, two buildings, an air-conditioned rest room and a thatched house.

Meanwhile, sources said that the BDA has also served a show cause notice to another mutt Baikuntha Dham, which has come up near the Bajrangbali Sevashram, for demolition a part of its premises.

The notice, served to the mutt chief Kasinath Mishra and Pandav Kumar Parida, has asked them file counter by December 23.
