Odisha Govt issues Helpline for drinking water problems

Bhubaneswar: To ensure that no one in the state is deprived of drinking water in the summer, the state Government has issued Helpline for both rural and urban areas.

Informing this, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Pratap Jena said people in urban areas can call on toll free number 18003456783 to inform about any issue related to drinking water. The toll free number for rural area is 1916. The Government will supply drinking water through large size tankers to areas that lack drinking water facilities.

Control Rooms have been opened at engineer and junior engineer offices, division offices and sub-division offices across districts to receive complaints regarding drinking water. If required, tubewells will be installed in rural areas following proposal of Collector of the district concerned.

This apart, officials concerned have been directed to start renovation of all defunct tubewells in rural and urban areas on war-footing basis, the Minister added.
