Sundergarh: The Odisha Government reinstated Sundergarh Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) In-charge Pankaj Patel, who was suspended earlier this month.
Revoking the suspension, the state Government reinstated the official at Sambalpur district headquarters hospital (DHH) as the Senior Consultant of Medicine Department.
Patel was suspended by on October 13 on charges of not implementing the Government’s Mo Sarkar initiative launched on Gandhi Jayanti. In this connection, Sundargarh Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan was also served with a show-cause notice for lapses in implementing the programme in the district headquarters hospital (DHH).
The action was taken after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 5T Secretary VK Pandian visited the district to review health facilities in state-run hospitals. Following the suspension, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took to Twitter to justify the action against the official.
Such action will continue to be taken against negligence in duty and harassment to public in Government offices like police stations & hospitals. In our democracy where people are the true masters, the Government machinery must strive to serve people professionally and ethically.
