Odisha Sun Times Bureau

Bhubaneswar, July 25:

In a move that has become a pattern during Naveen Patnaik’s 14-year rule, the Odisha government has rewarded two retired OAS officers of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), who were accused of being involved in the loot of relief materials during Cyclone Phailin in October last year.

The Housing and Urban Development department Thursday issued a notification giving the two retired officers an extension of one year in their services.

The officers are Recovery Officer Bijay Kumar Das and Deputy Secretary Nirmal Chandra Nayak. Both were working in the CMC during  the 2013 Phailin and are facing vigilance inquiry for their role in relief bungling.
