Odisha govt seeks flood assessment report by Monday

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today asked District Collectors of concerned districts to submit report on the damages due to recent floods and rains by Monday next.

District Collectors of Rayagada, Kalahandi and other affected districts have been asked to submit damage assessment reports of their respective districts.

After reports are available those will be sent to the Central government, informed Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan after a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi held here today to review flood situation in the state.

The meeting was attended by secretaries of concerned departments.

“The Chief Secretary, myself and secretaries of concerned departments reviewed the flood situation in the state. The government has issued instructions for submission of damage assessment reports by Monday. We have also explained to them rules of Government of India in this regard. We have sought damage assessment reports on damage to roads, schools and other buildings. The reports will accompany visuals/photos of interventions taken up by the government. A format for providing information will be provided to them by the Special Relief Commissioner’s office. They will be required to submit the report in the requisite format by Monday,” said Balakrishnan briefing reporters.
