Odisha Govt warns of strict action against hoarders

Bhubaneswar: As Odisha began enforcement of 14-day lockdown today to curb spread of COVID-19,  Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain warned strict action against those involved in hoarding and black-marketing of essential commodities during the period.

The Minister instructed Civil Supply Officers (CSOs) of all 30 districts to personally visit the local markets to keep a check on the hoarders.

“I have instructed all CSOs to visit the markets and send filed officers to strictly monitor the situation. Stern action will be taken against hoarders and black-marketers during  the lockdown,” said the Minister.

It is pertinent to mention here that, people are allowed to buy essential items near their houses by walking to only 500 metre distance between 6 AM and 12 Noon during the lockdown.
