Odisha HC Bar Association passes resolution opposing establishment of 2 permanent benches

Cuttack: Orissa High Court Bar Association has passed a resolution opposing establishment of two permanent benches of the High Court in Western and Southern Odisha.

The members of the Orissa High Court Bar Association decided to constitute to an action committee to prepare a resentment representation to the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court not to give his consent for establishment of two permanent benches of the High Court, stated a release issued by the High Court Bar Association yesterday.

The resolution was passed at the General Body Meeting of High Court Bar Association held on the premises of the court here on Wednesday.

At the meeting presided over by senior advocate Kali Prasanna Mishra, the President of High Court Bar Association, the members discussed the statements made by the Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, published in English daily “The Times of India”, Bhubaneswar edition dated May 1, 2022, for establishment of two permanent benches of the High Court in Western and Southern Odisha.

However, the members opposed the Union Minister’s statements and passed a resolution protesting the initiative taken by the Centre for establishment of two benches of Orissa High Court in Western and Southern Odisha.
