Odisha HC fails to hear bail plea of ex-govt pleader for second time

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Cuttack, Oct 21:

The Odisha High Court for the second time could not take up hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of former additional government pleader Debasish Panda on Monday.

High-CourtPanda has moved the High Court to avoid possible arrest by the CBI in the mega chit fund scam.

The matter could not be taken up for hearing as Justice Pramatha Patnaik in whose bench the hearing was listed recused himself.

The bail plea was to be taken up for hearing in the single judge bench court of Justice Pramatha Patnaik, on Monday as Justice Sangam Kumar Sahu in whose court the matter was listed earlier for hearing on Friday refused to conduct the hearing in the matter.

Following this, the petition was returned to Chief Justice Amitava Roy to take a decision on which bench was to conduct hearing in the matter.

Chief Justice Roy is learnt to have directed listing of the matter for hearing by the single member bench of Justice Pramatha Patnaik for Monday.

The petition is again back with Chief Justice Roy to take a decision on which bench will finally be conducting the hearing in the matter.

Senior High Court lawyers Arun Kumar Budhia and Dharanidhar Nayak are the counsels for advocate Panda in the case.
