After hearing the arguments, the court ruled that bail cannot be granted to Hansda in view of the ongoing CBI probe and his case was different from Pradip Patnaik, the director of Nabadiganta Capital Services Ltd.

Patnaik was earlier on July 14 granted bail by the High Court Notably on July 14, who is also one of the accused in the mega chit fund scam. He was granted conditional bail to furnish cash security of Rs 1 crore in the form of Bank Guarantee and Rs 1 lakh with two sureties of similar amount.

Earlier in February this year, the Khordha District and Sessions Judge court had rejected Hansda’s interim bail plea.

It may be recalled that Hansda along with former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Subarna Nayak and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Hitesh Bagarti, were arrested by the central probe agency sleuths on November 4 last year for their alleged involvement in the mega scam.

On the day of his arrest, Hansda was suspended from the BJD by party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
